PRESENTSTIONS

i really liked roberts presentation because the way he talked about perspectives and how it's up to the person makes a lot of sense to me.

PRESENTATIONS

i really liked ceasars presentation because he talked about a lot of good things that make sense. for example the mindset, if you don't have the right mindset, you're never gonna achieve something that you want.

WE EAT SOCIAL MEDIA FOR BREAKFAST

In a humans mind we think we have to do something to make other people like you. For example, taking pictures of foods and sharing, that's just because it might be a habit. People do stuff without even knowing they do it because they do it all the time.

I've tried to stop posting stuff on social media for about a week now and it feels pretty good. I'm not always on my phone now and i feel like i notice things more .

The authors use of syntax is trying to tell us why he did this. The author just wanted to share it with someone but he just realized that he's becoming  one of those people that share everything on the internet.

The authors use of diction is also giving us the idea of what led up to this action. The author talks about how the internet came about and I think it was just invented so we can spend our whole lives on it. If we didn't have social media, our phones would never die and we would see things in other ways.

The authors tone towards this argument is upsetting. I think the author did this on accident and when he caught himself doing this, he was disappointed.

The authors reasoning behind this is to show how much we spend our lives on the internet. I think our generation revolves around the internet and we should try to lay off it for a while.

IGNITE TALKS JOURNAL

i really like blakes because he compared it to our class and he really made me think about it. also sokratis was good because i eat at his uncles place like every single weekend and i can actually see him following in his uncles foot steps. roxy was also good because the way she used the example of the casinos was spot on and they just want you to spend more time there to spend more money.

IGNITE TALK

my big question was, why does the week start on sunday and end on saturday?
my big question kind of went with what i did because it was during the week. during break i just had practice every single day and if i wasn't playing i was always around it.
one thing i learned was that my life is basically all baseball and i can't get rid of it.
i think my question is related to fahrenheit 451 because it's kind of an odd question that no one really knows the answer too.
i just wanna know why the week is arranged like it is and focus on baseball.

MY THOUGHTS ON FARENHEIT 451

1) the significance of the glass of milk, apple, and pear is that montag can feel it and know that it's real.
2) montag saw a deer instead of the mechanical hound.
3)
4) Granger is the person who montag finds in the forrest. his friends and him all remember books so they could burn them after. the books become stuck in their mind.
5) on the "show" portraying montag they arrest a random pedestrian and say he's montag because they don't want to admit that montag got away from the pursue.
6) granger means that they made the right mistakes because if they didn't then they wouldn't all be together or know each other.

A STEP AHEAD OF THE HOUND

1) montag plants some books in the garden.
2)
3) fabers tv tells him and montag theres a new mechanical hound.
4) there was a manhunt for montag.
5) montag is running from the hound and heads to fabers.

RUN MONTAG RUN

1) the hound attacks montag because something went wrong with the calculator in the hound. it was set where the hound is not supposed to attack firemen.
2) montag defends himself because the more he argues the guiltiest he looks.
3) montag realizes that beatty despises the things that he loves and hates.
4) montag went to get the books from the garden.
5) montag is almost ran over by some kids driving dangerously fast.

MONTAG KILLS

i think montag turned it on beatty because he didn't want to be told what to do anymore so he burned her to death.

Monday, March 27, 2017

QUESTIONS 2

1. mildred doesn't appreciate the books. montag is more interested because they might say what happened to clarisse.
2. the bombers create suspense and shows that the city is in some sort of crisis.
3. professor fabre is a retired english teacher who has a few books but wants more.
4. montage reaction is trying to block out the announcement and think of a field of flowers.
5. the books have quality and they reflect on life.
6. the "small green object" is a seashell fabre created to listen to the radio.
7. the white clown shows how easily and cheaply amused the society is.
8. she starts crying because the way montag reads the poem is with emotion.
9. montags destination was his own home.

GUIDANCE INDEPENDENT READING

I liked reading independently today in class becuase I wasn't rushed and I got to go over what I didn't understand.

Tuesday, March 14, 2017

TABLE READING AND QUESTIONS

1. I think he starts this story with that becuase he might not like to read books. It might be more pleasurable to burn books rather than read then becuase you might not ever read them and it's cold so you use the books to keep you warm by burning them.
2. the books are compared to birds becuase birds deaths are not easy to watch and Bradbury wants us to know that books do have a meaning.
3. Montag's life is easy going and Clarisses life in full of unanswered questions.
4. the technology in the novel is just like today's technology becuase they talk about flat screens and headphones. The technology doesn't improve their life because Bradbury keeps him apart from the technology.
5. I think the narrator introduces Montag at this time becuase maybe his life is just getting interesting.
6. The author introduces us to Clarisse before Mildred because his wife was probably not around when Montag met Clarisse.
7. The houses are fireproof because of people buying the books and they don't want the houses ruined.
8. Mildred overdosed on pills and she received a medical doctor for help.
9. The hound is a robotic dog that watches over Montag.
10. Clarisse is not like everyone else becuase mindful and sees what's wrong in the society.
11. She lights the match becuase she would rather die as a human then die less than a human.
12. The relationship between Montag and Mildred is not good becuase they are not really in love becuase they're focused on other things.

WHAT I SEE IN LITERATURE

I see love in the great Gatsby becuase there is a lot of "loving" amongst the characters.
I also see symbols like the bill board that's supposed to be gods eyes and he sees everything so nothing gets past him.
In PRUFROCK I sense that he's scared of getting old so he procrastinates on everything in life and stays away.

PRUFROCK

I think PRUFROCK is trying to say that when people are shy they don't do anything and their life doesn't wait for them.

CAN WE WATCH THE MOVIE?

the movie helps me understand the book becuase I can see the scenes actually happening in the book now
everything makes more sense now that I can see it happen

PRUFROCK 1st IMPRESSION

SH*TGIBBON

A toad who thinks he is a prince, devoid of any self awareness as to what an asshole he looks like to everyone around him. Possibly a narcissist / racist / spoiled rich kid all grown up.

GATSBY NOTES CHAPTER 4

nick goes to another party at Gatsbys house again.
nick and Gatsby drive into the city for lunch and Gatsby tells nick about his life.
nick doesn't seem to believe his story.
when they arrive at the city nick meets Gatsbys friend Meyer wolfsheim and he does something weird with teeth.
haven't finished chapter 4 yet

GATSBY CHAPTER 4

1) Gatsby told nick that when his family died he inherited a great deal of money and he traveled to the European capitals to find jewels and hunt game. He also wanted to escape a sad memory.
2) Jordan tells nick that Gatsby has fallen in love with Daisy Buchanan. She also tells him that Gatsby bought his house in west egg just so he could be closer to Daisy.

I believe the first one becuase how Gastby lives in a nice house and he does seem like the type of guy to make up a story like that. I don't believe the second one becuase I think Jordan is trying to start a rumor.

CHAPTER 3 REMIX

When nick went to Gatsbys party and he was talking to him he didn't realize that he was right in front of his face becuase no one new who the Gatsby was. This reminds me of when I went to a baseball tournament and there were scouts there and I got invited by the coach but I didn't know what he looked like so I was talking to this guy and I started asking about the team and it turned out to be the coach of my baseball team.

Wednesday, February 1, 2017

GATSBY NOTES 3

the guy in the library is pointing out what's real and what's not
Gaysby is throwing the party for affect
Gatsby is the only one in the book who cares

GATSBY PARAGRAPH

If I was at Gaysbys party I would probably have a good time. I would introduce myslef to everyone and make new friends. If I was invited to a party like that where there are important people, I would be on my best behavior.

REMIX CHAPTER 1

If I were to remix chapter one I would say that it's kind of boring/interesting because your learning about the characters and that could be boring. But some of the characters turn out to be really interesting like Tom Buchanan, he's a  douche bag. The first chapter also gives us hints on what the story is going to be about. Before the chapter started there was a quote called an epigraph and what that does is give you a hint on what the story/chapter is about. I think this story is going to be good.

Tuesday, January 24, 2017

GATSBY NOTES 2

ajar- slightly open
divan- couch
contemptuously- with scorn
Tom Buchanan is a racist.
Tom has another lady in New York.
The green light is a symbol.

Monday, January 23, 2017

GATSBY NOTES 1

epigraph-a quote or a phrase at the beginning of a chapter or book that gives a clue about what the chapter or book is going to be about.
Gatsby is a normal kind of guy.
everything King Midas touched, turned to gold.
tom Buchanan seems like a big bully and he could afford to be a little nicer

EVERYTHING IS A REMIX

I don't know a lot about remixes but what I do know is that when you take something that's someome else's and change it, you're remixing it. When you're remixing something, you could change the meaning. You can also make it your own way and that could start a chain reaction because people will see it and agree with it or change something about it. Remixes are like new generations, almost like babies lol.

MUSIC AS LITERATURE

I think music is literature becuase every singer thinks different and says things in different ways.
